    An encyclopaedia of 12 sciences.
    Notes
    • Ms. codex.
    • Title from fol. 1a (also on the lower edge of text block).
    • 21 lines per page. Written in a medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Glazed European paper. Some marginal annotations, chiefly towards the end of the text.
    • Ms. additions: Fol. 1a has 5 duas to be recited at 5 daily prayers; fol. 2a has a list of Ottoman Sultans with dates of their accesion to the throne; fol. 3a has a list of sciences in black and red ink and in what appears to be the same hand as in the main text; same fol. also has several short inscriptions in later hands (a dua and some verses); fol. 98b has more short inscriptions in a later hand.
    • Copy completed on the 7th of Ṣafar 1058 (1648) -- colophon (fol. 97b).
    • Incipit: حمد بي حد احد بي ابتدا يه كه الف اسم ذاتي هر ابتدايه اول وهر انتهايه منتهادر
    • Explicit: فلك ركار جز تغريق بشمار فكل الصفو منها قد تكدر الحمد لله علي الاتمام وللرسول افضل الصلوة والسلام ولآله البردة الكرام
    Binding note
    Brown leather with envelope flap. Blind fillets around the edges of covers and the envelope flap. Blind stamped mandorlas in the centre of upper and lower covers. A smaller blind stamped mandorla on the envelope flap. Pastedowns and lining to the envelope flap in yellow paper. Lining to the fore edge flap in brown leather. Label on spine: " Netaic ül-fünun, nümero 12".
