Summary note
The materials included in this collection cover multiple aspects related to the environment and ecology in Chile. Types of materials include pamphlets, flyers, reports, and research papers published mostly by non-governmental organizations concerned with the protection of the environment, and by government agencies. The bulk of the material was published between the late 1990s and the early 2000s.
The collection, published primarily in Chile in the capital, Santiago, concerns environmental and ecological issues, especially pertaining to the Andes, rainforest, jungle and its relationship with urban areas, industry and development. Special topics include conservation of land, species and natural resources; pollution, contamination and decontamination efforts; water, air and forestry and mining issues; and law and public policy, legislative and political action and recycling and waste management. Several government organizations and ministries have contributed, as well as non-government organizations, and international environment action groups such as Greenpeace.
