Title from heading of second Table of contents (fol. 10a). The title appears in the beginning of the text as "Kitāb al-khulāṣah" (fol. 11b, l. 14).
Incipit: الحمد لله خالق الارواح والاجسام وجاعل النور والظلام ... قال الشيخ الامام الزاهد البارع فقيه الامة ظهير الشريعة محي السنة مقتدر الانام بقية الاسلاف الى الاخلاف كريم الاطراف افتخار الملة والدين ركن الاسلام فى العالمين طاهر بن احمد بن عبد الرشيد البخارى نوّر الله تربته واعّلى فى الجنان رتبته قد عرفتم اخواني ايّدكم الله تعالى ان العلوم كثيرة والاعمار قصيرة
Explicit: قال المصنف رحمه الله كانه اخذ بقول ابى حنيفة ... وتبطل الثاني لانه يمكنها ان يقول كلبهما الشفقة والخيار والله اعلم
Physical description: 29 lines per page. Written in small naskh in black ink with use of red. Thin cream paper, glossy, with laid lines and pulp visible. Some folios on European paper with watermark (see fol. 26). Fol. 1-5, 6-9, and 341-344 are latter additions on European paper with watermark, with a table of contents in black and red in a black grid on fol. 1-5, several short sayings and notes, including a biographical note on the author from Ṭabaqāt al-fuqahāʼ by [Ibn] Quṭlūbughā (fol. 6a), in several hands on fol. 6a-9b, and short fatwas and other inscriptions on fol. 341a-344b. Another table of contents mentioning only the titles of the Kitāb, apparently by the same hand as the main text appears on fol. 10a. Several short excerpts and inscriptions on fol. 10b-11a. Inscription in Ottoman Turkish on the pastedown of the upper cover.

Origin: Copied by Amīr Maḥmūd ibn Ilyās ibn Amīr al-Khaṭīb in Qarah Warīd(?) on a Thursday of Muḥarram 882 [April-May, 1477] (colophon, fol. 340b).
Binding note
Brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper cover. Lower cover, fore-edge flap and envelope flap made of dark brown leather over paper pasteboards. Upper cover has a central stamped mandorla and an outer border consisting of fillets. Paper pastedowns.
Provenance
Two ownership statements on fol. 11a, in the name of Luṭf al-Mudarris, from Dār al-Khilāfah, and of Sharīf Pāshā Zade Sayyid Muḥammad Asfahd(?), the latter dated Muḥarram 1307 [Sept. 1889]. Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942.
