    • Physical description: 25 lines per page. Written in medium small square naskh in black ink with use of red for headings, entries and re-inking. Light biscuit paper with large laid lines visible. Marginal annotations, apparently by the same hand as the main text (mainly additions). Fol. 1 is a later replacement. Inscription in Arabic numerals on fol. 1a: "87". Title in Arabic script on a label pasted on the fore-edge flap: "Hādhā Kitāb Mughnī al-kāshif min asāmī ruwāt al-aḥādīth al-sharīf[--]"
    • Origin: Copy completed by Aḥmad al-Ḥalabī on 11 Rabīʻ al-Ākhar 793 [March 18, 1391] in Cairo (al-Qāhirah) (colophon, fol. 361a, followed by one verse of poetry).
    Binding note
    Brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a deep sunk central stamped mandorla with a floral motif, and an outer border consisting of fillets and a running pattern of impressions of a small stamp. Marbled paper on the envelope flap. Paper pastedowns ; leather doublure with blind-stamped flower motifs on the fore-edge flap
