The central panel is divided in two : the upper vertical rectangular panel is framed in gold and black and has the beginning of the title written in stylistic "Kufic" in gold on a blue ground with an arabesque in gold and red. At each side of the title of the first Bāb (fol. 3b), gold, black and red teardrop outlined in blue with flecks on the vertical axis.

Binding note
Both volumes have a similar binding in golden brown leather over paper pasteboards. The upper and lower covers are similarly blind tooled with a panel defined by fillets with a large border consisting of fillets and a running pattern. The central panel has a central eight-pointed star motif defined by interwined fillets on a ground filled with stamp impressions and gold dots. The inner corners are outlined by a fillet which develops at its center into an ogival form pointing towards the central star motif. The triangular and ogival forms defined by the fillet are filled with stamp impressions and gold dots. At the point of the ogival form are three impressions of a small circular stamp in gold and a fleck (similar to the inner corners of the binding published by D. Haldane. Islamic bookbindings in the Victoria and Albert Museum, 1983, plate 55, but smaller ogival form). The fore-edge and envelope flaps are only extant on vol. 23. The envelope flap has a similar outer border with a circular medallion defined by a fillet on its point. The space defined by this fillet and the outer border is filled with stamp impressions. The medallion is left untooled with on its inner left side, a smaller medallion with three gold impressions of a small circular stamp and a fleck pointing to the right. The small medallion is filled with stamp impressions and a gold dot on its center. The leather doublure is covered by modern paper.
