Summary note

Collection of rhymed tales after the style of Kalīlah wa-Dimnah (Hitti).

Notes

• Ms. codex.
• Title from title page (fol. 2a, 3a in the modern foliation ; later addition).
• Written in two columns, with 11 lines to the page. Medium small naskh in black ink with some use of red. The two first leaves are later additions in European paper with watermark. The text on the original leaves starts on fol. 3a (4a in the modern foliation). Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (starting with "1" on the free endpaper).
• Worm-eaten. Extremely fragile.
• Two spine labels (vertical), with inscriptions, respectively "al-Ṣādih wa-al-bāghim" in Arabic script and "248" in Arabic and Western numerals.
• Copy completed in Muḥarram 682 [Apr. 1283] (colophon, fol. 117a (118a in the modern foliation).
• Explicit: انّ القحار والعلا ارثك من دون الملا والحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة والسلام على خاتم النبيين.
• Incipit: قال الشريف ابو بعلى محمد بن محمد بن الهبارية العباسى رحمه الله تعالى الحمد لله الذى حبانى بالاصغرين القلب واللسان وانما فضيلة الانسان وفخره بالعقل والبيان ... [3أ] بحر الندى ربّ الايادي والمنن شمس العلى صدر الهدي ابي الحسن.

Binding note

Pasted paper upper and lower covers (worm-eaten). Rebacked with green paper. Paper pastedown and free endpaper.
