Summary note
Hakanî Mehmet Bey's hilye, a poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, describing his personal appearance and character. The poem was composed in 1007 (1598-99) -- see end of text.

Title from head piece on fol. 2b.
15 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Text is written in two columns inside a gold leaf frame outlined in black ink. All headings are in gold leaf. Fol. 2b has a head piece (ʻunwān) executed in gold leaf with blue, red, orange and white watercolors. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Glazed dark cream and dark blue paper with visible laid lines. Ms. additions: Sūrat al-Fātiḥah on fol. 28a, signed ʻUmar.

Binding note
Brown leather over pasteboard. Large central mandorlas on upper and lower covers, blind stamped and painted in gold and brown. Gold fillets around borders of covers. Spine and cover edges repaired in red leather. Doublures in burgundy leather with gold painted mandorla shaped motifs in the centre, and marbled paper pasted around the edges. Label on upper cover: " No. 24 MR".
