    A work on fiqh, an epitome of the work called al-Hidāyah by ʻAlī ibn Abī Bakr al-Marghīnānī (d. 1196 or 7).
    Notes
    • Ms. codex.
    • Title supplied by the cataloger.
    • Copy completed on a Sunday, in Ṣafar 786 (1384) -- colophon (fol. 186b).
    • 10 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Foliation in Western numerals in pencil. Dark cream glazed paper (some sheets are later replacements on glazed European paper). Extensive marginal annotation throughout. Some water damage to paper and some repairs, but no substantial loss of text. Several short paragraphs on fol. 1a and 2a, and short inscriptions on ff. 188a-189b.
    • Incipit: حمد من جعل العلم اجل المواهب الهنية واسناها واعلى المراتب السنية واسماها احسن ما يفتتح به الكلام
    • Explicit: وفى غنم مذبوحة فيها ميتة وهى اقل تحرى واكل فى الاحتيار

    Marbled paper over pasteboard on covers and envelope flap with brown leather on spine and fore edge flap (envelope flap loose). Lining to fore edge flap in brown leather. Label on upper cover: "Thānī 442".
