A commentary on Wiqāyat al-riwāyah fī masāʼil al-Hidāyah, a work on fiqh by the author's grandfather, Maḥmūd ibn Ṣadr al-Sharīʻah al-Maḥbūbī (d. 1274 or 5). As for the work itself, Wiqāyat al-riwāyah is an epitome of the work called al-Hidāyah by ʻAlī ibn Abī Bakr al-Marghīnānī (d. 1196 or 7). The copy lacks one fol. at the end.

23 lines per page. Written in a medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Foliation in Arabic numerals in black ink and foliation in Western numerals in pencil. Dark cream paper with no visible laid or chain lines, except for ff. 1-11 which are a later replacement and are on glazed European paper. Fol. 1a-b has a table of contents in black and red ink. Several short inscriptions on ff. 2a, 3a and 202a-b. Some marginal annotation throughout.

Binding note
Brown leather with envelope flap with blind stamped central mandorlas on upper and lower covers and the flap. Blind fillets around the borders of covers and of the envelope flap. Lining to the envelope flap and endleaves in pink paper. Lining to the fore edge flap in brown leather.
