Acephalous copy of a commentary on al-Misbāḥ fī al-naḥw, a treatise on grammar by al-Muṭarrizī (d. 610/1213).

  • Title supplied by cataloger.
  • Inscription in Western numerals on a label pasted on the upper cover: "63", repeated in red ink on the pastedown of the upper cover (corresponds to Brill's catalog. See Houstma, M. Th. Catalogue d'une collection de manuscrits arabes et turcs, no. 303).
  • Collation: Paper ; fol. i + 29 ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
  • Layout: 13 lines per page.
  • Paper: Light cream paper with laid (and chain?) lines visible. Before the beginning of the original text, seven leaves on European paper (2 complete, the others with pieces cut off). Fol. 26 is a blank leaf on the same paper. After the end of the text, one leaf on another type of European paper.
  • Origin: Copy completed on a Friday in 868 (colophon on the margin of fol. 28b).
  • Incipit: قولك زيد مقيم فى ظنى ولو قلت زيد أعْطيت درهم ... الباب الرابع فى القوامل المعنوية.
  • Explicit: لان اهانة المولى من لوازم ضرب الغلام وهذا باب ال[---؟] فيه محال لكنه يقتضى(؟) الى ال[---؟] فاقتصرت على هذا القدر فليس الدى الدى عن التشاق.
Binding note
Later quarter-bound type III (without flap) binding in brown leather and marbled paper. Yellow paper pastedowns. Endbands.
