Commentary on the Alfīyah fī al-naḥw, a versified treatise on grammar by Jamāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd Allāh ibn Mālik (d. 672/1274).

Inscription in Western numerals on a label pasted on the upper cover: "56" (corresponding to Brill's catalog.
Collation: Paper ; fol. 124 ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Layout: 19 lines per page.
Description: Rubricated ; use of red for re-inking (stops after fol. 34) . Soft thick light cream paper with laid lines, chain lines and pulp visible. Ḥāshiyah on the margins. Fol. 2 apparently two fol. pasted together. Fol. 1 disbound, apparently not part of the original ms., with scribal essays on the recto and short text on verso. Fol. 124, later addition on European glazed paper, with scribal essays.
Origin: According to the colophons, copy of main text completed on 24 Shaʻbān 883 (fol. 122b), and Fāʼidah copied for himself (li-nafsih) by Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Manāwī, in 801 H. [1398 or 99] (fol. 123b).
Incipit: قال الشيخ الامام العلامة ... اما بعد حمد الله مستحق الحمد وملهمه ومنشئ الحلق.
Explicit (fol. 122b): وقد يفك الادغام في غير ذلك شدوذا نحو لجحت عينه والل السقا او في ضرورة كقوله الحمد لله العلي الاجلل الواسع الفصل الوهوب المجزل تم التوضيح المبارك.
Incipit of Fāʼidah (fol. 123a): فايدة قول التوضيح في فصل ابدال الالف من اختيها الواو واليا في الشرط التاسع.
Explicit of Fāʼidah (fol. 123b): على الاعلال فلان يقدمون الادغام على الاعلال من باب اول هكذا طهر والله اعلم اعلم.
Binding note
Type III (without flap) binding in golden brown leather (peeling). Paper pastedowns. Traces of a leather doublure on fol. 1a. Multi-colored endbands.
