    Summary note
    Veysî's work on the sīrah of the Prophet. The work is split into two parts (part 1: fol. 2b-75a, part 2: fol. 78b-177a) written in different layout and on different paper but in same hand. Fol. 2a contains a prefaratory inscription, ff. 75b-76a have two pages of verse, and ff. 76b-78a are blank.

    • Date from fol. 75a. The text is split in two parts and only the first part is dated.
    • Layout varies: first section has 27, and second has 21 lines per page; text frame for the first section measures 150 x 70 mm, and the second 127 x 53 mm. Written in small naskh in black ink with use of red. Text on fol. 2b and 3a within gold leaf frame ruled in black ink, with a simple rectangular gold leaf filled head piece on fol. 2b. Text on ff. 3b-75a within a single-line frame ruled in red ink. Text on fol. 78b and 79a within gold leaf frame ruled in black ink with a floral design gold leaf head piece on fol. 78b. Text on ff. 79b-177a within a single-line frame ruled in red ink. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Some marginal annotations in contemporary hand, chiefly in the first section of the text. Ff. 1 and 179 are flyleaves of thin cream paper with visible laid lines and a crown watermark. Ff. 2-77 on very thin light cream glazed paper with no visible chain or laid lines. Ff. 78-178 on darker glazed paper with faint laid lines and more prominet fibres.
    • Ms additions: 3 pages of verse on ff. 177b-178b in a later hand. A number of short inscriptions and ownership statements on ff. 1a, 2a, 177b and 179b. Some of the latter are accompanied with seals, and are dated variously from 1700 to 1858.
    • Copying of the first section of the text was completed on the 29th of Shaʻbān 1093 -- fol. 75a.

    Binding note
    Dark burgundy leather with envelope flap. Gold tooled border design on covers made with gold roll and fillets. Gold tooled central obloids in flower design with pendants along vertical axes on upper and lower covers. Gold fillets on fore-edge flap. Gold tooled border design made with gold roll and fillets and a gold stamped mandorla on the envelope flap. Spine repaired in different burgundy leather. Lining to the fore-edge flap in burgundy leather. Lining to the envelope flap in green speckled paper. Endleaves in brown paper. Endbands in red and yellow. Label on spine: "A 120". Boxed in a red fabric covered box with a flap. Label on the front of the box: "ELS No. 4638" and on the flap: "Siyar al-nabī li-Waysī Afandī".
