    Publisher's paper-covered boards, chromolithographed pictorial upper with gilt, black-outlined lettering, and foregrounded illustration of a jolly Santa holding a packfull of toys and a holly bough, with reindeer and a full moon in background; lower cover with floral-pattern matching the floral-patterned endpapers (lower cover and endpapers, as per earlier editions); blue-gray cloth spine strip.
