    Overly-indulged, prodigal son, John Wats, angered at having been denied money by his father, is approached by the Devil, who offers him 12 years of wealth for his soul, which is eventually grudgingly forfeited on a "dreadful night".

    • Date and place of publication from BL record for this title (ESTC T25783) with similar text but a different setting of type (one also lacking the sermon text and ""Prayer").
    • The 3 1/2 page "Timely warning" is followed by a 2 1/2 p. sermon (from James 13, 14, 15) and a half-page "Prayer against temptation."
    • Illustrations: T.p. with 3/4 page woodcut of a conjurer with the devil, very reminiscent of earlier cuts showing Dr. Faustus and the devil.
