• One of at least two variations of "McLoughlin Brothers 81st Annual Catalogue" (another comprised of 160, [8] pages, also held by Cotsen Library); this version lacks the catalog of Games (pages 98-160 in other variation), the separation of the Books and Games catalogs into two catalogs being noted in the publisher's insertion
• Title page with small medallion vignette of Mother Goose flying on her goose set within a circle suggesting the Moon (a McLoughlin trademark logo) set between printed dates: "1828" and "1909."
• Includes a page listing "German editions" (page 48).
• "Special notice. Pictures for framing and advertising purposes. We beg to give notice that for several years past we have been publishing ... a substantial line of handsome pictures ... The line has been very successful, and has grown so large as to necessitate a separate and special catalogue, which will be sent to any customer on demand ... Art Department, McLoughlin Brothers" --Advertisement on pages [98-99].
• Price list of flags (featuring Irish flags) on page [100] and "price list of books, etc. arranged according to number" on pages [108-109].
• Index on pages [103-105]; page 106 is blank, followed by 4 blank pages at end, apparently as originally bound.
• Small notice, laid in: "1828 - 1909: Our lines have now grown large enough to warrant separate cataloges for books and games. If you receive but one and desire both, will you kindly let us know? --McLoughlin Brothers, 890 Broadway".

Binding note

Cotsen copy: Lacks publisher's wrappers (if wrappers are the same as those in a varient edition of this catalog, these would be off-white pictorial wrappers, color-printed upper medallion portrait of Mother Goose and decorative title in red, blue, and gold, lower wrapper with illustration of McLoughlin's Williamsburg production plant).
