Summary note

Gloss on a commentary on Hidāyat al-ḥikmah by Athīr al-Dīn al-Abharī (d. 663/1264). The commentary should be that of Fakhr al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn al-Husayn al-Ḥusaynī, completed near Tabrīz on 14 Shaʻbān 928 [1522] (see end of text, fol. 143b and Āghā Buzurg Ṭihrānī. Dharīʻah, vol. 6, p. 139). The gloss is followed by a short excerpt on the different types of sciences by Ibn Sīnā and a commentary on Hidāyat al-ḥikmah (incomplete at end).

• Title supplied by cataloger. The title and the name of the author of Text 1 appear on a note on fol. 1a and on the lower egde of the text block. The title and the name of the author of Text 3 appear in a note on fol. 146a.
• 19 lines per page. Written in nastaʻlīq in black ink with use of red. Dark cream paper with laid lines and pulp visible. Verses of poetry in Persian on fol. 1a-2a, 145b-146a. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits the first fol.). Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "al-Ḥikmah 18". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥāʼ 763".
• Texts 1 and 2 written by Muḥammad Yūsuf ibn Ḥasan al-Ḥusaynī(?) al-Jurjānī in 955 (colophon text 2, fol. 144b).
• Collation: Paper, fol. 185 + i ; 1-18⁸ 19² 20-23⁸ 24⁸ (-1, after fol. 185) + i ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.

Binding note

Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Both covers are similarly blind tooled with a central mandorla with a gilt outline with entensions on the vertical axis and an outer frame of blind-tooled and gold painted running pattern and fillets. Leather doublure with gilt frame and a small central motif. Rebacked.
