Notes
  • Concerning the inconsistency of Washington being a slave owner.
  • Evans supplies imprint: [New York? 1797]. However, typography suggests that this was printed later. The American Antiquarian Society copy is addressed in ms. to Hon. Gideon Lee, representative from New York at Washington. Lee served in the House of Representative from 1835 to 1837; it is likely that the broadside is contemporary with the pamphlet edition published by Garrison & Knapp at Boston in 1831, rather than with the original edition published at Liverpool in 1797.
  • Text in two columns; printed area measures 32.5 x 17.8 cm
