Summary note
A very good example of an African Qurʾān; the numbering of the āyahs is markedly different from that of modern printed versions.
Notes
Ms. leaves.
Physical description: 15 lines per page; written in large, thick and elegant African script in brown on yellowish glossy paper (known as hilālī paper). Text is vocalized throughout in rose ink with hamzas as yellow dots. All verses separated by 3 small rose circles, and every 10th verse is separated by 2 concentric circles in brown with a yellow band between the two. Various divisions are marked by rectangles, circles, or other shapes in brown and yellow. Several pages with typical African decorations. A few leaves are frayed, but text is intact.
Binding note
Loose in typical Nigerian leather binding, embossed with typical Nigerian decorations. A little worn, with the inner side nicely reinforced in morocco.
