500    Illustrations: Engraved pictorial title page depicts a boy writing at a writing desk, with a bookcase and learning instruments in the background; plate 1 illustrates how to cut a quill in 9 steps, and plate 2 shows how to hold a pen correctly for writing.
500    "Johann Jakob Roschi (1752-1794) was writing master at the Kunstinstitute in Bern from 1871 on. After his early death, the present work was completed by his son and successor jakob Emanuel, who added the last two plates. An interesting feature is that the work was also sold in single leaves mounted on cardboard, for simultaneous use in classes."
