Publisher's advertisement on [1] p. at end for: "Elementary books, lately published by R. Phillips .. and to be had of Tabart and Co."
Illustrations: Engraved frontis., depicting the magic lantern show, and a plate facing the beginning of each poem, each depicting a satiric inversion (e.g. the cook being cooked and the fish turned fisherman shown hooking a man); Moon comments, "there is a crudity - even cruelty - about some others of the themes which would not commend them to readers today."
