One printed sheet, folded twice, with the left-hand section creating a small flap.
Title "Imperial battledoor" [sic] from left inside flap.
"4 d., plain; Pr. 6 d., coloured" -- Left flap.
The center section has "Lesson I" and "Lesson II," two tables of 15 one-syllable words arranged in 5 columns; the Lord's Prayer; and Arabic numerals from 1 to 0 arranged in a line; right section has 6 engraved vignettes of children in rural settings, arranged in two columns : column 1 shows two boys playing battledore and shuttlecock, a girl raking the field, and a milkmaid; column 2 shows a boy kneeling in prayer, by a small round stool on which sits a book, a shepherdess and her lambs, and a girl holding a sheaf of wheat in her apron; thin, double-ruled border around all 3 sections.
