  • 17 woodcuts throughout the text, which illustrate answers to the riddles.
  • Illustrations include "an old woman whipping her cat for not catching mice" (page 6), "a man pelted in the pillory" (8), "a young man [a dandy] in a tavern drinking a gill of sack to clear up his sprits..." (9), and "an old woman scolding in a high crown'd hat" (20); the latter is a different cut than in other printings issued by other booksellers, as are the cuts of the king with a "royal crown" on page [2], the "goosebury-bush" (page 3), the "oak tree" (page 14; this printing doesn not include the large cut of an affluent family riddling in front of a large fireplace.
  • Upper wrapper inscribed in ink with the number "5" at head and marked on page 3 with scribbling and pen trials.
