    Notes
    • Elaborate white paper cut with 83 figures (dancing ballerinas, squatting clowns, figures walking on stilts, boy with umbrella, cherubs, reindeer, and swans) mounted on dark background with HCA's printed card to which have been stitched several strands of the poet's hair.
    • That HCA would do paper cuttings while telling his fairy tales to children is legendary. Despite their fragile nature, many examples still survive: but most of them are preserved in Danish museums.
