Notes
Title from title screen.
A globally seamless adaptation of the Digital Chart of the World (Vector Map Level 0, Edition 5) in ESRI shapefile format, with country polygons and updated first-level subdivisions of countries.
Polygons delineating the linguistic homelands of nearly all of the 8,814 language-in-country entries in the Ethnologue, 14th edition, with coastlines and international borders corresponding to the Digital chart of the world (VMAP level 0, edition 5); additional polygons of language areas without corresponding Ethnologue listings (generally areas where a small part of a linguistic homeland described in the Ethnologue extends into an adjoining country); polygon overlays for mixed-language areas; point locations of all Ethnologue languages; a joinable attribute table with fields corresponding to nearly the full data in the published Ethnologue, 14th Edition; layer files providing default symbology for ArcGIS 8 or 9; sample map project files illustrating use in ArcGIS 8 or 9; XML metadata compatible with ArcGIS 8 or 9.
