In the subsequent 42-line pages the types were apparently slightly filed down across their tops, so that the sharp terminal points of some of the capital letters were rubbed away. We do not know when printing of the Gutenberg Bible was begun, but there is good reason to think that in the fall of 1454 its printing, though well advanced, was not yet complete. Despite its very early date, it is likely that this copy was sold and used at a considerable distance from Mainz. It was retrieved from a binding of Austrian (Seitenstetten?) origin on a 1479 Basel incunable now in the Landesbibliothek Stuttgart. 530 Also available in an electronic version. 561 Acquired August 1933. |5NjP 583 |xmlc 650 0 Latin language |xGrammar |vEarly works to 1500. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh86003452 650 0 Type and type-founding |vSpecimens. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00001054 710 2 Maggs Bros., |ebookseller. |5NjP |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n82075696 856 41 |uhttp://arks.princeton.edu/ark:/88435/4m90dv587 902 mrf |bo |6a |7m |dv |f1 |e20051019 914 (OCoLC)on1340484006 |bOCoLC |creplace |d20240327 |eprocessed |f1340484006 956 41 |zCuratorial documentation |uhttps://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3HwfRG3YqiNT3plSU1XdDR0VHM
