Summary note
Contains 159 gelatin silver print snap shots and photographs (5.5 x 8 cm. and 8 x 10 cm.) taken by a traveling surveying outfit through Wyoming, Colorado and Nevada circa 1905. 90 prints feature scenes of the outfit (including daily scenes from camp, group portraits, humorous scenes among friends, and methods of transportation including mule trains); 33 feature the environs through which the party moved (including desert scenes, landscape scenes and two views of the Ames Monument in Wyoming); 14 feature the party at work and views of survey equipment and markers; 12 feature views of established camps and towns (including then active Nevada ghost towns of Goldfield, Columbia, and Rhyolite [Bullfrog]); and 10 feature scenes from a rodeo. Photographs of a fire in the town of Goldfield and the bottle house at Rhyolite are also present.
