    Summary note
    An early 18th-century manuscript, with neatly drawn diagrams, done in colored inks and watercolor washes, of gears, pulleys, inclined planes, machinery, presumably a student's fair copy of an elementary course in mechanics. After a general introduction, the text is divided into four parts: "Du mouvement des corps sans ressort," Du mouvement des corps pesante," "Des machines propres a communiquer ou arrester le mouvement des corps durs," and "Du mouvement des corps fluides." 108 unnumbered pages, followed by 23 pen-and-wash illustrations numbered “Planche I-XVI” and 7 unnumbered, on larger sheets, bound in contemporary mottled calf.
