Summary note
Surveys the history of Jews in Cham, Germany, from the medieval period until World War II. Pp. 44-103 deal with the Nazi period. Discusses the gradual exclusion of Jewish residents from all sectors of life. In 1937-38 most of the 72 Jewish inhabitants opted for emigration. Describes the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, during which ten Jewish men were arrested and imprisoned in Dachau for four weeks. In 1942 the remaining Jews were deported to concentration camps. Pp. 73-96 contain a list of Jewish businessmen who lived in Cham between 1863-1938; pp. 98-103 contain a list of 29 victims of the Holocaust.
