• A collection of fairy tales as told by Miaulina the cat to Mimi, an industrious young girl who lives with her grandmother and whom Maulina rewards for helping her to recover from a stomach ache.

• Distressing illustrations to Das Lügenkraut tells the story of Rudi who tells lies, and is almost bald because every time he lies a hair falls out, pp. 31-33 and to Die Puppe in which father holding knife is depicted advancing on child (actually doll) in bed.
• The poor widow's daughter in Das Zöpfchen has a magical braid which shines like the rays of the sun and can light a dark room, it is later stolen by a "false bride".
