    Ms. Prayer book, written and illuminated in South Netherlands, probably Bruges.
    Notes
    • Layout: Parchment; single column of 22 lines, ruled 5 mm; 182 x 126 (111 x 78) mm.
    • Decoration: 3-line brown initials painted with gold acanthus, on pink grounds for Prayers. 60 full-page, arched miniatures with full borders of flora and some fauna (150 x 95-8 mm.), all on rectos. The cycle of pictures begins with the Creation of Eve and ends with the Last Judgment; the majority illustrate scenes from the life of Christ.

    Brown calfskin over wooden boards, with a clasp of blue enamel escutcheon inscribed "P P"; front and back covers stamped with four rectangular panels, each panel decorated with vine-stems and grapes, and fauna including ape, stag, porcupine, squirrel, dog, rabbit, and ox, and each panel inscribed "Ob Lavdem Xpristi Librvm hvnc recte ligavi Lvdovicvs Bloc," Bruges binder, Lodewijk Bloc (active 1484-1529), named in inscription.
