Summary note
A collection of sermons in Pokonchi by Viana, written around 1600. This volume later came to fray Dionisio de Zuniga who restored it by adding the "sermones" for the missing Sundays, as composed by a "much inferior scholar, fary Gonzalo Ximeno." These Ximeno Sermones, in the writing of Zuniga, comprise fols. 1-116, 197-212. Folios 117-198 are the Viana original.

Provenance
Previously owned by the "Fiscal" Juan de Morales, who made an entry in Pokonchi on fol. 113v praising Viana and his work, "hin ahtih fiscal [I the teacher] Juan de Morales," May 1, 1750; the volume was later owned by the the chief Indian family of the Caal and bears the name "Don Mariano Caal"; it was acquired by William Gates in 1915 from a descendant of the Caal family through F. J. Smith; sold to Robert Garrett (purchased from William Gates in 1930); deposited by Garrett at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton in 1942; removed from the Institute in 1949, at Garrett's request, and donated to the Princeton University Library.
