Summary note
This manuscript is a collection of texts from the circles of the Greek academies of Romania, either those of Bucharest or Jassy. Consists of a medical receipts and a vast number of extracts from classical and medieval medical treatises, recipes, etc. Includes pieces from medical authors, treatises on various disorders and prescriptions for their remedy, on the medical virtue of herbs, lists of antidotes and curative charms. Some pieces are religious tracts or sections on astronomy, chronology, and grammar. The writer gives his name as Constantine, son of Thomas Rhizotes, of Vranania [Vranitsa], with the date 1617. Elsewhere in the volume he speaks of himself as "by profession a physician."
