Utterson (auction 1852), the Earl of Ashburnham (his auction, Sotheby's London, December 1897, lot 2305), and Richard Bennett. The latter sold his library en bloc to Pierpont Morgan in 1902. The Recuyell and two other English incunable duplicates were traded by the Morgan Library to H. P. Kraus in 1970 to acquire an important illuminated manuscript, the Prayer Book of Michelino da Besozzo. WHS acquired 10/20/77 from H. P. Kraus.
