Holograph sketches written in ink and pencil most likely in Vienna during the second half of 1818.
Notes
Six unnumbered manuscript leaves ruled with 8, 20, 12, 10, and 20 staves, respectively.
French title written on leaf [1] recto in a later hand.
Composition date based on the Beethoven Werkverzeichnis, v. 1, pp. 661-62; v. 2, p. 809; and Johnson, Beethoven sketchbooks, p. 535. Incorrect date "early 1819" written in pencil on the upper left margin of leaf [1] recto.

Obtained Apr. 20, 1935 from antiquarian bookseller Paul Gottschalk by John H. Scheide as a gift for William H. Scheide.
The verso of each leaf and also leaf [2] recto signed "L. v. Beethovens own hand writing received from Viene July 29th, 1828 J. A. Stumpff".
