• Composition date based on the Beethoven Werkverzeichnis, v. 1, pp. 661-62; v. 2, p. 809; and Johnson, Beethoven sketchbooks, p. 535. Incorrect date "early 1819" written in pencil on the upper left margin of leaf [1] recto.

• Obtained Apr. 20, 1935 from antiquarian bookseller Paul Gottschalk by John H. Scheide as a gift for William H. Scheide.
• The verso of each leaf and also leaf [2] recto signed "L. v. Beethovens own hand writing received from Viene July 29th, 1828 J. A. Stumpff".
