    Summary note
From 3000 BC when trephination was undertaken in nearly all parts of the world, to 1752 AD when the first successful operation for a brain abscess was performed by a French surgeon, to 1999 when researchers at the University of Maryland found a way of using bacteriophages to infect and kill Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacterium responsible for most deaths from cystic fibrosis, here are the major events in the history of neurology. Occasional bandw photos and drawings punctuate this chronology (exact dates not included) of 10- to 35-word descriptions, often technical, of each noteworthy occurrence. Lacks index and bibliography.
