    A translation by Şaban Şifai of Karmī's Qalāʾid al-ʻiqyān fī fadāʾil mulūk āl ʻUthmān, a work about the virtues of Ottoman sultans.
    Notes
    • Ms. codex.
    • Title from the beginning of the text on fol. 6b.
    • Copied in translator's own hand and completed on the 29th of Shawwāl 1115 (1704) -- colophon (fol. 212b).
    • 19 lines per page. Written in a medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for underlined words. Text is written inside a gold leaf frame outlined in black ink. Fol. 3b has an illuminated head piece in embossed gold leaf with red, blue and white watercolors. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Glazed European paper. Fol. 2a has an incomplete table of contents in a later hand. Title on the lower edge of text block: Kalaid ül-ikyan fi fezail-i Al-i Osman.

    Binding note
    Half leather. Marbled paper over pasteboard on covers. Brown leather on spine and around cover edges. Gold roll and a fillet around edges of covers. Pastedowns in yellow paper. Spine is broken and the ms. is in two separate parts.
