"Atascosito, located near the lower Trinity River, was a recognized geographical place in 1756, a small rancho in 1766, a temporary Indian mission in 1785, and a Spanish military post from 1805 through 1812"--P. 1. "The villa and military post of Santisima Trinidad de Salcedo was founded in January 1806 on the east side of the Trinity River...The Spanish Royalist Army destroyed Salcedo in September 1813"--P. 42.
