    Summary note
Prof. Özbel made it possible for young generations to get acquainted with Turkish handicrafts and insured the continuation of these samples by opening courses in various provinces and instructing in these courses. Carpet and rug courses opened in Umurbey, Orhangazi, Iznik towns of Bursa and at Şile and villages in Istanbul are among his efforts. Kirkitli Weaving shops at the State Fine Arts Academy and State Applied Fine Arts School were also established by Prof. Özbel. Handicrafts collected by Prof. Özbel attract interests both in Turkey and in foreign countries.
