Summary note
Rediscover one of the classical repertoire's most beloved works in the delightful company of a first-class Baroque ensemble! Joined by Baroque violinist extraordinaire Francisco Fullana, Apollo's Fire offers a lively and insightful rendition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, plus other masterworks by Vivaldi and Marco Uccellini, under the baton of their marvelous and charismatic artistic director Jeannette Sorrell. The genesis of these concertos, whose original score and dedication have been lost, remains mysterious even to today's musicologists. Sorrell presents one likely version of the facts: Vivaldi composed his Four Seasons while serving as maestro di coro at the Ospedale della Pietà, an institution that provided music education to orphans. The work may have been premiered by one of the Ospedale's orchestras made up of young musicians whose considerable talent attracted music lovers from all over Europe, including the likes of Jean-Jacques Rousseau! This is just one of over a thousand thrilling concerts available on medici.tv, the web's leading classical music streaming platform!.
