The French master's music-including some famous works and some gems you may not have heard before-is on glorious, globe-trotting display here. In addition to music from the opera Le Timbre d'argent, which Les Siècles revived in 2017 over a century after its last performance, we hear the composer's evocations of Africa in the piano fantasia Africa and "Egyptian" Piano Concerto with Chamayou, take a tour of Greek mythology in symphonic poems Phaeton and The Youth of Hercules, marvel at the beloved violin show­piece Introduction and Rondo capriccioso with Capuçon, and finish in deliciously sinister territory with the diabolical Danse macabre....
