Woodcut with letterpress text. In the foreground is a balcony or courtyard with a low wall and decorative floor. On the left a traveler in slashed velvet breeches and jerkin, cape draped over his left arm, approaches a lady holding a carnation in her left hand and pointing up with her right. In her lap sleeps an elderly gentleman in a robe, fur collar and hat. In the background, on the hill beyond the wall, two fashionably dressed men and a boy converse before a four-towered castle, which is between two text cartouches.
Princeton copy 1 with watermark, a flower above a cuffed, open-palmed left hand (like Briquet Stevenson 11360; 81 x 32 mm.; Scotland 1568, Silly-le-Long 1566).
