Summary note
A file of briefs prepared for the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (C.S.C.E.) follow-up conference in Madrid. Subjects covered in the briefs include British, Soviet, and non-aligned approaches to the Madrid conference -- the Mediterranean dimension of the C.S.C.E. process -- the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan, including the Western response -- Anglo-French military involvement in Vanuatu -- developments in southern Africa -- and Soviet and Eastern-bloc implementation of the principles governing relations between states as agreed in the Helsinki Final Act.
