Summary note
A file of documents concerning Britain's follow-up policies in relation to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (C.S.C.E.). Subjects discussed in the file include the creation of an unofficial committee to monitor the implementation of the Helsinki Final Act in Britain -- administrative questions relating to the committee -- and the outcomes of the committee's report, in which the main criticisms of Britain's performance are the publicity of the Final Act, visa procedures, family reunification, and passport issues. Other subjects discussed in the file include a review of Confidence Building Measures -- the impact of the C.S.C.E. on East-West relations -- and the role of nationality in East European dissident movements. Documents in the file include a summary of a talk given by the chairman of the committee, George Thomson -- a copy of the interim report produced by the Helsinki Review group -- and a record of British policies on immigration and race relations.
