Summary note
A file of correspondence and reports concerning political relations between Hungary and Sudan. The documents cover the visit of the Sudanese foreign minister, Farouk Abu Issa, to Hungary -- and further visits to Hungary by the Sudanese Minister of Information and the Sudanese Minister of Justice. A communiqué issued following the visit of Farouk Abu Issa highlighted concerns over the situation in the Middle East, and discussed the development of Hungarian-Sudanese relations. The file also covers the Hungarian reaction to the Sudanese coup and counter-coup, which led to the execution of political leaders -- and the Hungarian press condemnation of the "campaign against progressives" in Sudan.
