Summary note

A file containing documents concerning Bulgaria's relations with Finland. Issues covered in the file include the announcement of a visit to Helsinki by Ivan Bashev, the Bulgarian foreign minister -- events during the visit, which were reported by Sir Anthony Lambert, the British Ambassador in Finland -- and the contents of the communiqué issued at the end of the trip. This document notes that the delegations had discussed the international situation -- had agreed that the Vietnamese people should be accorded the right of self-determination -- had called for further progress on disarmament and the signing of a nuclear non-proliferation treaty -- had underlined the importance of the U.N. in resolving international disputes -- and had applauded the development of Bulgarian-Finnish relations. Other documents in the file include notes from the British embassies in both countries about the presence of the Finnish Minister for Education at the opening of an exhibition in Bulgaria.
