Summary note

A file containing a report from the British Embassy in Ulaanbaatar about a trip to Mongolia by a Bulgarian government delegation. The delegation, which had represented the Bulgarian Communist Party as well as the government, was returning from a visit to Vietnam, and had visited Mongolian industrial enterprises and cultural establishments during a short visit. Talks between the parties had apparently focussed on "international problems" such as the Vietnam War and European security. Whilst both sides had agreed that they supported Soviet-style communism, no critical mention had been made of China or the Sino-Soviet split. The two countries had also signed a trade and payments agreement, but details of the deal had not been published.
