Summary note
A file containing documents concerning Bulgarian relations with the United Arab Republic (U.A.R.). Subjects covered in the file include a Bulgarian press announcement that a U.A.R. military delegation, led by the Minister of War, would be visiting Bulgaria -- a report from the Canadian Embassy in Cairo that the Ministry of War was in fact mainly concerned with trade, and that the trip was therefore likely to be focussed on trade -- and a further report from Cairo that the outcome of the trip was probably related to the Bulgarian supply of small arms to the U.A.R., based on a Bulgarian credit grant. Other subjects discussed in the file include the first session of the Bulgarian-U.A.R. Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation -- a visit to Bulgaria by a U.A.R. delegation, led by the deputy president of the U.A.R. Council of Ministers, to discuss agricultural issues -- and the signing of an agricultural protocol.
