Summary note
A file containing documents relating to the crash of El Al flight 402. Subjects discussed in the file include the Bulgarian objection to the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice (I.C.J.) -- Bulgarian claims that the British government was acting incorrectly by allowing the Israeli government to claim against the Bulgarians when it was British insurance companies who were at most risk in the case -- and American applications to intervene in the British and Israeli cases before the I.C.J., to ask the court to postpone any decisions on the Bulgarian application to dismiss those cases until the American case before the court had been heard. Documents in the file report details of meetings of the I.C.J. to discuss the case -- discuss the continuation of the British case following the I.C.J.'s decision to refuse jurisdiction in the Israeli case -- and give transcripts of hearings before the court.
