Summary note
A file containing documents concerning Franco-Soviet relations. The file includes a draft of a French reply to Soviet note threatening to denounce a Treaty of Alliance and Mutual Aid between France and the Soviet Union -- a series of edits to the draft reply -- and a text of the original Soviet note. Other documents include a summary of Soviet press coverage of the exchange -- and a report from the British Embassy in Paris describing the French reaction to the Soviet note. The file also includes a report that the French Ambassador in Moscow received a letter from the Soviet government criticising the foreign policies of the Western powers -- and a list of the members of a French Parliamentary delegation visiting the Soviet Union.
