Summary note
A file of memoranda concerning the decisions taken by the Russia Committee from late 1948 to early 1949. The documents discuss whether Britain should pursue a more offensive policy towards the Soviet Union -- a reference to the overarching aims of the Committee -- the British view of the Communist seizure of power in China and its repercussions -- the merits of British anti-Communist propaganda -- and the repercussions of the split between Josip Broz Tito, the leader of Yugoslavia, and Josef Stalin, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and its potential significance.
